Day two of the 2025 Brisbane Bash continued with some fierce competition, with both Queensland teams heading into the day undefeated, and our Division 2 teams ready to battle it out in front of an energetic crowd at Nissan Arena.

Game 9 – Division 1 – Melbourne RUFC v Bond University

Jayden Warn joined Melbourne’s line up today, bringing a refreshed energy to the team after one win and one loss yesterday. Tai Martin-Page and Conor Tweedy once again were in fine form with smooth passes between them, seeing Bond take an early lead. Cam Whittaker was in relentless pursuit, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap against the Bull Sharks who ended the first match of the day with another victory.

Game 10 – Division 1 – Hunter Wildfires vs Box Hill RUFC

After losing both matches on day one, Box Hill were hungry for victory, and for the first half they were skilfully matching the pace of the Hunter Wildfires. A solid third quarter for the Wildfires coached beautifully by Richard Voris saw the team edge ahead by making the most of opportunities presented to them while keeping their defensive line tight.

Game 11 – Division 1 – Sydney University vs UQ

An energised Sydney University took on UQ, managing to keenly keep up with the season dominant Red Heavies. With a strong defensive line, Jayden Jackson and Andrew Holloway found ways to sneak through. Ultimately, UQ were able to widen the gap in the second half and claim another victory.

Game 12 – Division 2 – Victoria Thunder vs Queensland Cyclones

The local Natalie Miller cheer squad was loud and proud as our first Division 2 match of the day took place. Victoria’s Rhiannon Bellette showed for the second day in a row that she was one to watch, and Sean Senbel-Lynch was a defensive powerhouse. Thunder took an early lead, and despite an impressive effort by the Cyclones, they couldn’t catch up.

Game 13 – Division 1 – Melbourne RUFC vs UQ

With speed no one could temper, UQ took an early lead that saw them comfortably lead the whole game. By the fourth quarter, Melbourne seemed to find their rhythm, matching UQ’s 12 points – but the gap from the previous quarters was too big to close. UQ heads into the final day of the Brisbane Bash undefeated.

Game 14 – Division 1 – Hunter Wildfires vs Bond

After both teams won their morning matches, there was an air of confidence ahead of the starting whistle. But the feeling was short lived for Bond when a hard fall in the first minute saw Brayden Foxley-Conolly ruled out with an HIA. Despite stellar defense from Emilie Miller and coach Ben Newton taking the court for an extended time, the loss of Brayden led to a shock upset to Bond’s winning streak. Hunter Wildfires ended the day with two wins under their belt.

Game 15 – Division 1 – Sydney University vs Box Hill RUFC

Jacinta Richardson burst onto the court going face-to-face with anyone in her path, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Some equipment issues saw Andrew Holloway out of the match several minutes, and Box Hill seized the opportunity to get some points on the score board. Kadir Faki played strongly to keep the pressure against the energetic Box Hill, but the score gap only widened in the final quarter, with Box Hill claiming the win.
